TOPIC:

Elastomeric Insulation for VRF-VRV HVAC Systems

BY: Darrell Peil

Topic Description:

The subject of proper installation and materials for VRF and VRV piping insulation has become more and more important as experience is gained with this aspect of VRF/VRV system use.  This presentation discusses the complexities and needs of piping insulation installations for VRF and VRV HVAC systems.  These are complex piping systems that have very unique performance requirements for the materials and installation practices. EPDM synthetic rubber elastomeric insulation most correctly meets the entire set of needs presented by this most recent development in HVAC technology.  The fittings and other piping specialties present real installation challenges that most installers find extremely challenging to complete correctly.
