Topic: “Displacement Ventilation”

Speaker: Jim Aswegan, Chief Engineer, TITUS

Jim has completed more than forty-five years of service at Titus.  After more than 15 years of service in the Research and Development department, he has been in the Sales & Marketing group since 1983.He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. Jim is a member of USGBC, ASHRAE, and the local Dallas chapter of ASHRAE. 

For ASHRAE, he is currently serving as Liaison for the 2013 Fundamentals Handbook

The topic Jim will discuss at our lunch meeting Thursday, March 7th, is Displacement Ventilation.  His presentation will include the following:

  • Comfort & Contaminates
    • When designing for comfort per ASHRAE Standard 55 and IAQ per ASHRAE Standard 62.1, is Displacement Ventilation (DV) the answer?
  • Basic Concepts & System Benefits
    • Comparing and contrasting DV to a conventional overhead fully mixed system.
    • How can we heat with a DV system?
  • What does a DV outlet look like and where are they placed?
    • Example Space Layouts
    • Outlet Types & Air Patterns
  • How can I use DV to assist my design for a LEED project?
